Rivers for Assembly – Media Toolkit
Legislative District 17 encompasses diverse communities, including Piscataway, New Brunswick, Franklin (Somerset County), and North Brunswick. With a significant population of renters, young families, and working-class individuals, targeted outreach is essential to engage voters who feel underserved by current representation.

Between now and Election Day, the most urgent priority is for voters to see in the mail that Assemblyman Joe Danielsen has enabled corruption at the same time Democrats are fighting assaults on democracy by the Trump Administration, showing just how out of touch and out of step he is with his residents.

Voters need to know that:

-
Danielsen sponsored the law to make it harder for the public to uncover government corruption and illegal behavior by public officials. Danielson’s attack on our public records law made it easier for governments and officials to avoid public scrutiny, a move that 81% of New Jerseyans opposed. The Star-Ledger called the bill “a contemptible assault on government transparency.” (1,2)

-
In 2021, Danielsen quietly took on a second public job, taking home a combined six-figure salary and benefits on the taxpayers' dime, in addition to his earnings from his private business. (4)

The second priority should be for voters to know that Loretta Rivers is a trusted community advocate who has spent a career dedicated to expanding access to affordable housing, helping hundreds of working families achieve stability and security. She knows firsthand the barriers working families face—and she’s spent years helping to tear them down, from housing discrimination to economic insecurity.
